The BookMatcher Your Child's Personal Librarian    Welcome to The BookMatcher "Your Child's Personal Librarian" The BookMatcher is a professional reading consultation/reading tutorial service whereby children ages 4-14 are individually matched with books that are appropriate for their reading level. Through the use of a running record, an assessment given by a reading specialist to code a child's reading behaviors, along with a comprehension component, the BookMatcher will recommended books that are just right for the child to read. The BookMatcher will recommend authentic literature primarily using Fountas & Su Pinnell's research based book levels. Children who are given material that is too difficult or too easy do not progress with reading as readily as those given materials that are at their level. Studies have shown that children who read books at their appropriate level, progress much faster and consistently than those who are reading or attempting to read books that are not at their level. As proficient readers your children will also excel in all other aspects of schoolwork helping prepare them all the way from preschool through college, as well as expanding their horizons and their ability to have every profession in the world available to them. The BookMatcher provides a personal one-on-one service with your child. This service will precisely match your child with books specific to his or her own reading level and interests. Moreover, The BookMatcher is available to come to your home, your school, your community center, or organization to assist in the literacy development of your children.
